Our service menu

Each service pathway is designed to address a specific client situation. We offer a range of technical services from initial advisory through to full system delivery and ongoing support — all delivered with the same standard of care and attention to detail.

Our Practice

Technical services built around your situation

We provide computer systems design, custom programming and technical consultancy to established businesses across the United Kingdom. Every service we offer begins with a careful understanding of your current situation — not a template proposal, not a standard pitch.

Whether you need a new system built from the ground up, an existing system replaced or extended, an independent technical assessment before a major investment, or a structured programme to modernise your operations — we approach each engagement as a distinct professional undertaking with its own context, constraints and desired outcome.

The six service pathways described below cover the majority of situations our clients bring to us. If your situation does not fit neatly into any of them, a brief conversation will help us identify the most appropriate form of support.

What we offer and who it is for

Our services are structured around the situations our clients typically face. If you are uncertain which pathway fits your needs, the most practical first step is a discovery conversation — we will guide you toward the appropriate recommendation.

01

Custom Computer Programming

We design and build bespoke software applications tailored to your specific workflows and operational environment. Unlike off-the-shelf software that requires your processes to adapt to the product, custom programming means the system is built around how your business actually works. We work across web applications, desktop tools, data processing systems and operational platforms, using appropriate technology choices for each context rather than a fixed stack.

Suitable for
  • Growing businesses with operational complexity
  • Companies replacing legacy or manual systems
  • Organisations requiring unique workflow logic
  • Businesses with specific data requirements
What is included
  • Requirements discovery and scoping
  • Architecture design document
  • Iterative development with milestone reviews
  • Testing and quality assurance
  • Deployment and staff documentation
02

Systems Architecture & Design

Before writing a single line of production code, we design the architecture of your technical system: data models, service boundaries, integration points, security posture and scaling strategy. This upfront investment consistently reduces development costs, eliminates architectural rework and produces systems that remain coherent as they grow. We deliver a formal architecture document that can be used to guide internal development, manage external contractors or brief a full development team.

Suitable for
  • New digital ventures or platforms
  • Digital transformation programmes
  • Systems requiring third-party integration
  • High-volume or scaling systems
What is included
  • Technical requirements analysis
  • Data model and service design
  • Integration architecture
  • Security and resilience planning
  • Formal architecture documentation
03

Technical Consultancy & Advisory

Structured advisory engagements for businesses navigating significant technical decisions. Whether you are evaluating a technology investment, assessing a supplier proposal, planning a system migration or managing the technical health of your existing infrastructure, we provide clear, impartial recommendations grounded in your specific context. Advisory engagements are available as single sessions, short-term retainers or as part of a longer technical programme.

Suitable for
  • CTO-level advisory for growing businesses
  • Vendor selection and due diligence
  • Technical review of existing systems
  • Investment or acquisition technical assessment
What is included
  • Structured discovery sessions
  • Written assessment and recommendation
  • Risk identification and mitigation guidance
  • Implementation roadmap if required
  • Follow-up session for questions
04

IT Infrastructure Planning

Strategic planning and documentation for your server, network and cloud infrastructure. We assess your current technical environment, identify gaps, model growth scenarios and produce a clear infrastructure plan that balances performance, resilience, security and cost. Whether you are moving to the cloud, consolidating on-premise infrastructure or preparing for significant growth, we deliver a plan you can execute with confidence — with or without our ongoing involvement.

Suitable for
  • Cloud migration planning
  • Infrastructure review and optimisation
  • Disaster recovery and resilience planning
  • Capacity planning for growing organisations
What is included
  • Current state infrastructure audit
  • Requirements and growth modelling
  • Infrastructure design and option analysis
  • Cost modelling and vendor assessment
  • Migration or implementation plan
05

Digital Transformation Support

Structured programmes to help established businesses transition from fragmented, manual or legacy systems to coherent digital operations. Digital transformation fails most often when it is treated as a technology project rather than an operational change supported by technology. We manage the technical side carefully — ensuring systems are well-designed, well-integrated and well-understood — while helping your leadership maintain realistic expectations and pacing that your team can absorb without disruption to daily operations.

Suitable for
  • Operational modernisation programmes
  • Process automation initiatives
  • Data consolidation and reporting
  • Multi-system integration projects
What is included
  • Current state and gap assessment
  • Transformation roadmap and sequencing
  • Technical delivery programme management
  • Integration design and execution
  • Staff training and adoption support
06

Scientific & Technical Systems

Specialist systems design and programming for professional, scientific and research organisations. We have experience building data collection platforms, laboratory information management systems, field data processing tools and analysis and reporting environments for technical users. Scientific and professional systems have distinct requirements around data integrity, audit trails, calculation accuracy and regulatory compliance — requirements we are experienced in addressing with appropriate rigour.

Suitable for
  • Research organisations and universities
  • Scientific and technical industries
  • Data-intensive operational environments
  • Regulated industries requiring audit trails
What is included
  • Domain requirements analysis
  • Data integrity and validation design
  • Custom data collection or processing tools
  • Analysis, reporting and export systems
  • Compliance-aware documentation
Questions

Common questions about working with us

If you have a question not answered here, the most direct route is a brief note through our contact page.

Ask us directly
Every engagement begins with a brief note or telephone call. You describe your situation and what you are hoping to achieve. We review your note carefully and respond within one working day with either a request for further information or an invitation to schedule a discovery conversation. There is no cost and no obligation at this stage.
Project timelines vary significantly depending on scope. Advisory engagements can be completed in one to three weeks. Architecture design documents typically take two to four weeks. Custom software development projects range from six weeks for focused tools to six or more months for comprehensive platforms. We provide a realistic timeline estimate in our prepared recommendation before any work begins, and we do not compress timelines to win work.
Yes. While our office is based in Harlow, Essex, we serve clients across the United Kingdom. The majority of our engagement work is conducted remotely, with in-person meetings scheduled where appropriate for discovery, key reviews or handover sessions. We are experienced working with remote and hybrid client teams and have established clear communication practices for distributed engagements.
Our structured handover ensures your team is confident and your documentation is complete before we close an engagement. After handover, we are available for ongoing technical support, refinement work and future development on a retained or per-project basis. Most clients continue to work with us in some capacity after initial delivery, and we prefer this model — it allows us to maintain the depth of understanding your systems require for quality long-term support.
Yes, and we do this regularly. We are experienced working within existing technical teams, alongside managed service providers and in coordination with other development partners. We are clear about boundaries of responsibility at the outset of every engagement, and we maintain professional working relationships with other technical stakeholders. We do not require exclusivity and we do not position ourselves as a replacement for internal capability — rather, as a specialist resource that complements it.
Confidentiality is treated as a professional obligation, not a policy. We operate under a formal confidentiality agreement on every engagement. Access to client data and systems is strictly controlled, audited and limited to what is necessary for the work. We do not use client work as case studies, marketing material or portfolio references without explicit written permission. Our own data handling practices comply with UK GDPR requirements.
Yes. This is often the most valuable part of an initial conversation. Custom development is not always the right answer — sometimes an off-the-shelf product, configured appropriately, is more cost-effective and faster to implement. We are genuinely impartial in this assessment because we would rather advise you correctly at the outset than undertake work that is not in your best interests. If an existing product meets your needs well, we will tell you.
